CHARACTERIZATION OF SINGLE FREQUENCY SYNCHRONOUS NETWORK TO COVER MOTORWAYS WITH SOUND BROADCASTING
Abstract
The option of construction of the transmitting infrastructure for coverage of motorways with the sound broadcasting on the basis of the synchronous FM broadcasting network in VHF band is offered. An overview of the advantages and disadvantages of such networks deployment is conducted. The analysis of possible distortions of signals reception in the synchronoustransmitters network in the case of analog sound broadcasting with frequency modulation is executed. The recommendations concerning the values of network planning parameters in monophonic and stereophonic broadcasting modes, and in particular, the values of radio frequency protection ratios in the conditions of mobile reception, are given. On the example of the Kyiv-Odessa motorway, the characteristics of transmission stations were determined, the coverage and the extention of the distortion areas of the monophonic and stereophonic reception were calculated. The location of network’stransmission stations is proposed in accordance with the existing infrastructure of radio-and-television transmission stations of the BRT Concern – the national operator of broadcasting and television in Ukraine. Also the prospects of DAB+ digital broadcasting technology applying for the development of such networks are considered.
