Abstract

The wide distribution of broadband access services makes it necessary to increase the capacity of the transport systems of the telecommunications network. To solve the problem, fiber-optical transmission systems with wavelength division multiplexing are successfully used. An optical fiber introduces linear distortion signals that include attenuation and dispersion. Optical amplifiers are used to eliminate signal attenuation in modern optical systems. Therefore, dispersion distortion is the main cause of the degradation of the optical signals quality parameters. Dispersion compensation devices are used to eliminate this phenomenon. However, the parameters of the available compensators do not always completely eliminate the introduced distortions. The study of the inaccuracy of the correction of chromatic dispersion on the Q-factor of the optical channel signal was performed in the article. A functional diagram of the fiber-optic transmission system with intensity modulation to solve the problem has been developed. The corresponding simulation model of the system has been developed in the Optiwave Optisystem software environment. The graphs of the signal immunity loss from the magnitude of the dispersion correction inaccuracy were obtained. It is recommended to perform the selection of dispersion compensation devices with an error of less than 5%.
