Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study of the state of the Ukrainian segment of the Internet. The study was conducted using statistical information provided in open sources. A research technique is proposed that takes into account such traditional parameters as the number of autonomous systems; the number of IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes; points of traffic exchange; the readiness to migrate to IPv6 for such indicators as the availability or distribution of the IPv6 address space from the Regional Internet Registrar; visibility in the IPv4 Routing Information Service (RIS); presence of the route 6 object in the database of the Regional Internet Registrar; configuring the reverse DNS configuration. In addition, parameters such as the number and status of RIPEAtlas probes and LG servers are taken into account. A comparative analysis of the state of the Ukrainian segment of the Internet with the networks of a number of countries in the European region, such as Germany, Poland, France. The level of penetration of the Internet in Ukraine was investigated. The analysis of indicators of the Internet audience of Ukraine on such parameters as types of regular users, the proportion of regular users in the settlements; share of regular users by age categories. The comparative analysis has shown that for a number of parameters, such as the number of autonomous systems; the number of routed IPv4; the share of local Internet registrars, which are allocated blocks of IPv6 address space, and a number of others, the Ukrainian segment of the Internet has good results. At the same time, Ukraine is behind the level of penetration into the Internet, including the level of development and quality of communication infrastructure. By the parameters of the number and condition of the means of monitoring the Internet, Ukraine also has low indicators. Based on the results of the analysis, conclusions were drawn and the expediency of applying the proposed methodology.
